Tracey-Ann begins her work with an abstract expressive style and then sub-consciously connecting with figures, animals, scenery and concepts to develop the message about our connection with life and our place in it.
River winds through green and dry,
Elephant laughs beneath the sky,
Land and spirit move as one,
Joy flows on where rivers run.
In this painting, I chose a section of the Murray–Darling as both map (aerial) and memory, its winding line carving through lush greens and dry, sunburnt earth, holding the tension and harmony of Australia’s living landscape. The river becomes a lifeline—sometimes generous, sometimes fragile—shaping farmland and desert alike, just as it shapes the people who depend on it. Yet within this aerial rhythm, another image emerges: a joyful elephant and companion moving together, light-hearted and free, as if to remind us that even in complexity and contrast, there is connection, movement, and shared spirit. It is a place of balance—between abundance and scarcity, land and life—where resilience carries a quiet, enduring joy.
