Tracey-Ann begins her work with an abstract expressive style and then sub-consciously connecting with figures, animals, scenery and concepts to develop the message about our connection with life and our place in it.
Between us, the colours break and fall,
Silent cracks where voices call,
A lone red bird cuts the heavy air,
Carrying words we could not share.
In Fissures, I was painting that feeling when two people don’t see eye to eye, like small fractures that widen over time. The figures sit apart, almost hidden within the movement, because disconnection is rarely clear or defined. The marks cut and collide, like words unsaid or misunderstood, creating those deep rifts. The red bird moving through the space became a quiet symbol for me—of freedom, of escape, or perhaps of something still trying to bridge the gap. Even within the chaos, there’s a tension between separation and the possibility of connection, as if something is still reaching across the divide.
