Tracey-Ann begins her work with an abstract expressive style and then sub-consciously connecting with figures, animals, scenery and concepts to develop the message about our connection with life and our place in it.
Clouds press low on restless stone,
Peaks breathe beneath a sky full-grown,
Light breaks through the storm’s deep sigh,
Wild and vast, the storm cries.
In Stormy Peaks, I was painting that moment when the mountains feel alive under a restless, stormy sky. The colours move with the energy of the storm—winds shifting, lightening, light breaking through, clouds pressing down and then lifting again. I didn’t want the peaks to sit still; they rise and dissolve into the atmosphere, as if the land and sky are in conversation. There’s tension in it, but also a kind of beauty—the way light finds its way through even the heaviest weather. For me, it’s about that feeling of standing in something bigger than yourself, where nature is both powerful and quietly transformative.
